Founder of The Continuous Flame
Dr. Rafat Amari
Dr. Rafat Amari founded The Continuous Flame in 1986 as a ministry of prayer. His calling joined worship, intercession, biblical teaching, and faithful Christian witness, establishing the foundation from which the ministry's later research and outreach developed.
From medicine to ministry
Born in the Middle East in 1943, Dr. Amari traveled to Italy to study medicine. During those years, his study of the New Testament led to a decisive Christian awakening, and he began biblical studies alongside his medical training. He completed his medical education in 1968.
After returning to the Middle East in 1970, he served evangelical churches in Jordan. In 1989, he left medical practice to devote his full time to The Continuous Flame.
A ministry founded in prayer
The Continuous Flame called believers and churches to honor God through prayer, seek revival, and intercede for countries where faithful Christian witness faced serious barriers. Prayer was not a preliminary activity before the ministry's work; it was the work's foundation.
From that foundation, Dr. Amari's ministry expanded into Christian teaching, publishing, research on Islam, prayer conferences, radio, and television. These efforts served one purpose: to strengthen the Church and bear witness to Jesus Christ in truth and love.
Worthy is the Lamb
Earlier Continuous Flame materials used the words Worthy is the Lamb, drawn from Revelation, to express the conviction that prayer begins with the worship of Christ.
Continuing the calling
The Continuous Flame continues the calling that shaped its beginning through prayer, research, publishing, events, and resources that serve the Church and reach beyond it.
